House Panel Passes College Football Playoff Bill

http://apnews.myway.com/article/20091209/D9CFVTR01.html

A House subcommittee approved legislation Wednesday aimed at forcing college football to switch to a playoff system to determine its national champion, over the objections of some lawmakers who said Congress has meatier targets to tackle.

The bill, which faces steep odds, would ban the promotion of a postseason NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision game as a national championship unless it results from a playoff.

Why don't we just shread the Constitution while we are at it?

Senate reviewing how college football picks No. 1

This...THIS...is what our elected officials are spending their time on! How is it possible that the Senate remotely thinks that they need to be involved? I'll tell you why. Votes. The current college football bowl system leaves much to be desired and many fans feel that the system doesn't accurately select the best teams to play in the title game. My belief is that if the government mandates a more "fair" system, fans will be happy and thus vote for them. Is this really what we have come to?
