White House advisers appearing on the Sunday talk shows gave three different estimates of how many jobs could be credited to President Obama’s Recovery Act.
The discrepancy was pointed out by a Republican official in an email to reporters noting that “Three presidential advisers on three different programs [gave] three different descriptions of the trillion-dollar stimulus bill.”
Valerie Jarrett had the most conservative count, saying “the Recovery Act saved thousands and thousands of jobs,” while David Axelrod gave the bill the most credit, saying it has “created more than – or saved more than 2 million jobs.” Press Secretary Robert Gibbs came in between them, saying the plan had “saved or created 1.5 million jobs.”

Source: White House Threatens Sen. Nelson with Nebraska Military Base Closure if won't Vote for Healthcare
http://www.weeklystandard.com/weblogs/TWSFP/2009/12/source_dems_threaten_nelson_in_1.asp
According to a Senate aide, the White House is now threatening to put Nebraska's Offutt Air Force Base on the BRAC list if Nelson doesn't fall into line.
Offutt Air Force Base employs some 10,000 military and federal employees in Southeastern Nebraska. As our source put it, this is a "naked effort by Rahm Emanuel and the White House to extort Nelson's vote." They are "threatening to close a base vital to national security for what?" asked the Senate staffer.
Indeed, Offutt is the headquarters for US Strategic Command, the successor to Strategic Air Command, and not by accident. STRATCOM was located in the middle of the country for strategic reasons. Its closure would be a massive blow to the economy of the state of Nebraska, but it would also be another example of this administration playing politics with our national security.

White House: State Dinner Crashers Met Obama
http://apnews.myway.com/article/20091128/D9C8HNRG0.html
After the Secret Service insisted that President Barack Obama was never endangered by a security breach that allowed a couple to crash his first state dinner, the White House has released a photo showing that not only did the pair get close to Obama, they actually shook hands and talked to him.
I wonder if the coverage would be different if Bush was still in office?

White House Escalates War of Words With Fox News
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/10/12/white-house-escalates-war-words-fox-news/
Calling Fox News "a wing of the Republican Party," the Obama administration on Sunday escalated its war of words against the channel, even as observers questioned the wisdom of a White House war on a news organization.
"What I think is fair to say about Fox -- and certainly it's the way we view it -- is that it really is more a wing of the Republican Party," said Anita Dunn, White House communications director, on CNN. "They take their talking points, put them on the air; take their opposition research, put them on the air. And that's fine. But let's not pretend they're a news network the way CNN is."

Obama Moves to Muzzle Top Military Commanders
http://www.newsmax.com/headlines/McChrystal_obama_gates/2009/10/05/268742.html
Sources tell Newsmax the Obama administration is muzzling its top military leaders, and keeping them from publicly airing their views on how to fight the war in Afghanistan.
The administration's primary target: top Afghanistan commander Gen. Stanley McChrystal, whose speech in London last week apparently caught administration officials off guard.
In fact, The Daily Telegraph reported that Obama's advisers were "shocked and angered" by McChrystal's speech.
At the time, Gates ordered McChrystal to provide "fresh thinking" and "fresh eyes" on Afghanistan. But apparently it was McChrystal's fresh tongue that got him in trouble.

WH on Health Care, Illegal Immigrants
http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2009/09/11/2065287.aspx
- Undocumented immigrants would not be able to buy private insurance on the exchange. Those who are lawfully present in this country would be able to participate.
- Undocumented immigrants would be able to buy insurance in the non-exchange private market, just as they do today. That market will shrink as the exchange takes hold, but it will still exist and will be subject to reforms such as the bans on pre-existing conditions and caps.
- Verification will be required when purchasing health insurance on the exchange. One option is the SAVE program (Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements) which states currently use to make sure that undocumented immigrants don't participate in safety-net programs for which they are ineligible.
- There would be no change in the law that requires emergency rooms to treat people who need emergency care, including undocumented immigrants. There is already a federal grant program that compensates states for emergency room costs associated with treatment of undocumented immigrants, a provision sponsored by a Republican lawmaker.

White House will Change E-mail Rules
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0809/26169.html
After a few such recipients appeared on Fox News, White House officials determined that advocacy groups on the right or left could have sent in the names without the person knowing it.
For instance, a group might have sent WhiteHouse.gov a comment from each person who had signed an online petition, and the White House would have captured the e-mail address.
Ahh that explains it.

Whitehouse Sending Unsolicited Emails?
http://www.politicalevidence.com/2009/08/fox-news-reporter-draws-attention-to.html
http://whitehouse.blogs.foxnews.com/2009/08/14/e-mail-story-update/
"In a related development, Fox on Friday filed a Freedom of Information request to obtain the full e-mail distribution list for the Axelrod health care e-mail and all internal White House e-mails about the list's creation."
Might turn out to be nothing. Head on Foxnews today that they are now offering the emails to the Whitehouse who say they don't want them. You would think that if the Whitehouse denies this they would seek to prove that the owners of those emails were on some kind of subscribed distribution list.
More to come I suspect...

Facts are Stubborn Things
http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/Facts-Are-Stubborn-Things/
"Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov."
Wow this is quite divisive. Let's turn in our fellow citizens to government because something seems "fishy."

The White House does its own Media!
http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2009/05/do-you-want-you.html
Now the public press isn't good enough for Obama, he has to make has own version of the news? Mark my words, while this report is on something barely significant, I wouldn't be surprised if the White House was testing out the format for use in the future. The free press is a cornerstone of our country, without it we are at the whim of tyrants.
